Our beautiful, sweet Cremino Lineolated Parakeet came from Lovely Linnie Aviary. Susan Kruger is a bird breeder located in Springfield, Oregon. Her charming aviary and flight are, indeed, very lovely.

A side window could be a hazard for flying birds,
but a skylight requires them to fly upward, so less dangerous. |

Yummy greens grow in hanging pot. |

They can't all be Linnies. She has cute owl finches too,
and also a pair of Rosy Bourkes, not pictured. |

Lots of things to climb and play on. |

Friendly Linnies enjoy visits. |

More come to look at us as we look at them. |

Hi, I'm new to this site and was hoping you could answer some of my questions.
ReplyDeleteI have a one and a half year old male rosy and his singing is wonderful. I do not have any other birds so i wanted to get him a mate for companionship. I was looking at a opaline bourke for him, will they still be able to breed even though they are different geneus? I do not want him to stop singing if he has a mate. Will he?
Also I'm building a small indoor avairy and wanted a little variety, so what type of birds get along with my rosy?
Thank you
A Bourke Parakeet of any color can breed with another Bourke. So, if you have a Rosy Bourke and buy a Rosy Opaline Bourke, they can breed as long as one is male and one is female (and they like each other). A Normal Bourke (wild brown color) can also breed with a Rosy Bourke. That's where the Rosy originated from. Bourkes only mate with other Bourkes, unlike some of the Neophema varieties who can cross with another (like Splendids & Turqs, for instance). Any bird smaller than a Bourke should get along with them in an aviary. Budgies and larger birds may intimidate your Bourke; but Bourkes are usually gentle with birds of another feather. Smile.
