Splendid Visit with Scarlet-chested Parakeets
It's been several years since we raised Splendids. This new pair is exciting. We look forward to baby Scarlet-chested Parakeets in our future. The Bourke Parakeets are still our favorites, but a little variety is fun, and these birds are lovely.

Questions?
If you have questions about your own Bourkes, or ours... Please send us an email so we see it the same day. Between this Blog, Facebook, Producing You Tube Videos, and Hand Feeding Baby Birds, we stay very busy and don't check everything as frequently as we otherwise might. But, we do see our daily email at:

Peace and Blessings.

Bourkes and Other Birds
When I perused the Spam Comments, some relevant questions weren't answered. People asked if Bourke Parakeets can breed with Linnies, Lovebirds or Splendids. The answer to all is NO!
| Songster & Blossom, a male Opaline Fallow Rosy and a Lutino hen. |
Those in the know tell us that a Bourke Parakeet, genus Neopsephotus bourkii, is only able to reproduce with its own kind and no other variety of bird. The same is true of Budgerigar Parakeets, genus Melopsittacus.
| Our male Splendid Parakeet. |
A few varieties of small birds can interbreed with another. Turquoisine Parakeets can interbreed with Splendid Parakeets (also called Scarlet-chested Parakeets).
Canaries can interbreed with Green Singing finches. There is even a repost on this blog of photos of an offspring from a Cockatiel and a Galah (also called a Rose Breasted Cockatoo). They call it a Galatiel.
Many Macaws will interbreed if put together, as will Conures or certain varieties of large parrots. However, interbreeding among different species is not desirable. Offspring are often mules (unable to reproduce) and you are watering down a healthy, natural species.
Bourke's Parakeets already come in some lovely colors, while still remaining Bourkes.

About the Comments For This Blog...
I confess that lately my time is mostly spent raising, hand feeding and selling our Bourke Parakeets. After that, a lot of time and concentration goes into producing videos by Rosie Bird on YouTube. The Splendid Bourke Bird Blog gets less attention then it used to. If I missed a comment you made, I apologize.
For the first time ever, I opened my Spam filter today and was amazed to find over 2,000 comments captured there since 2012. Most came from Anonymous and were ads that were either stupid or disgusting. But, I took the time to scan the last two years and found four or five comments that should not be targeted for Spam.
Comments are appreciated. However, if you have a Bourke related question send it to my email directly, or I may not see it. For whatever reason, Blogger doesn't usually notify me of comments made to my posts any longer.
Email is: rosie.birds@gmail.com
Through email you will get my attention ... unless you sign off as Anonymous ... those are ignored.

Bourke Parakeet 2nd Clutches. Beautiful, Healthy Baby Birds.
We love our Bourke Parakeets! Latest You Tube video of them shows Starfire and Sunset raising three, Blossom and Songster with four and Peaches and Stormy with five. Two of Starfire's are actually two that she's fostering from Peaches... Who knew Starfire could be a good surrogate mother for our more prolific Peaches!
